The Manchester College has a dedicated Materials Modification Unit who adapt materials to the formats learners prefer. We identify these preferred formats at assessment.

Assessment of your needs

Before you start your course, you will meet a qualified tutor of the visually impaired. They will carry out a specialist assessment called Visual Impairment Education Welfare - (VIEW).

We can provide the following:

  • Tactile Diagrams including musical scores
  • Screen Reading Software
  • Guiding/finding your way around college
  • Loan of Specialist Equipment

Audio Materials

We can provide course materials on CD, MP3 or audio tape.

Magnification Software

We have software on the computer to make the text and icons larger.

Notetaking

We can provide someone to take notes for you whilst you are in class.

Out of Class they may act as a sighted guide and can accompany learners on trips and work experience.
