Skills for Learning

Skills for learning are skills in using English, number and communication. These are sometimes known as basic skills.

We offer a range of skills for learning courses. You can learn the basics, such as adding and subtracting or writing sentences. You can also learn advanced study skills, such as essay writing or statistics to help with a university-level course.

If you’re an adult student (aged 19+) and don’t have a Level 2 qualification in English or maths, we encourage you to study skills for learning alongside your main qualification.

If you’re 16-19, we’ll ask you to study skills for learning alongside your main qualification.

Skills for learning are useful in your day-to-day life and are important when applying for work or further study.
