The IT Department provides courses in IT systems support and IT systems development.

The Manchester College is an industry-recognised provider of IT systems support and networking courses, with Cisco College and Regional Academy status. We offer PC connectivity courses, which provide the basis for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Professional (CCNP) accreditation.

We are also a Microsoft Professional Academy, with courses offering preparation for exams and accreditation as a Microsoft Professional.

IT Systems Development courses concentrate on the technical aspects of IT, such as computing, programming and information systems. Programming courses are available in several languages, providing opportunities to gain experience of programming principles and develop knowledge and skills in Visual Basic, Java and C++.

Modules of work include program testing, software design and systems analysis. The Manchester College has Microsoft Office Specialist accreditation and is part of the Oracle Academic Initiative.

IT courses are offered at our Openshaw, North Manchester Sixth Form, St John’s, Shena Simon, One Central Park, Moston and Northenden campuses.
