What are the aims of this course?
This is an exciting course which offers the opportunity to expand skills and knowledge within creative and media production. The course is designed to provide an understanding of key industry software, preparing you for level 3 courses or employment within the creative media industries. When you have completed the course, you will know how to use key software within the Adobe packages and you will have skills in media research and planning.
What are the areas covered by this course?
You will study the following units:
- Research for creative media production
- Communication techniques for creative media production
- Digital graphics
- Advertising production
- Web authoring
- Video production
- Media audiences and products
What qualifications do I need to do this course?
Two GCSEs at grade C/D or above, plus a positive Record of Achievement/Progress File and an aptitude for creativity and design is essential.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through project work. Your final assessment will be a portfolio presentation, exhibition of work and an externally assessed major project.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production (Interactive Media). You will also have the opportunity to complete Functional Skills that will help develop important skills - like communication, team working, presentation, and problem solving.
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?
On completion of this course you can apply to study on BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma programmes in Interactive Media or IT. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.
What are the career opportunities?
This qualification can be used to gain employment in the vast field of media, digital media and interactive media, including graphic design and web design. Specialist careers advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.
