What are the aims of this course?
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment is designed to give learners the opportunity to enter employment in the construction and built environment sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such HNDs and HNCs, or to university. The course gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

What qualifications do I need to do this course?
Five GCSEs at grade A-C, including Maths and English, or a BTEC First Diploma (or equivalent) with a Merit grade. Related work experience will also be an advantage.
How is the course assessed?
The course will be assessed through coursework and assignments.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?
Upon successful completion of the first year you will be awarded a BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. Upon successful completion of the second year you will be awarded a BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. You will also have the opportunity to complete Functional Skills that will help develop important skills - like communication, team working, presentation, and problem solving.
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?
After completing this course there are opportunities for further study such as HNDs or HNCs in construction and also university degree courses. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.
What are the career opportunities?
Career paths following this course can include construction management, quantity surveying, surveying and engineering, building surveying and architecture. Specialist careers advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.
