Meet Little Vinnie Big Shell, the tortoise gangster. Vinnie has bagged a prestigious award nomination for his creator, Joe Ackerley, who is studying 3D character animation at The Manchester College. He has been nominated for a Little Chip award alongside three other students from MMU, University of Salford and UCLAN.
The Little Chip award is the student category of the Big Chip Awards, which celebrate digital design in the North of England. Students enter digital artefacts such as websites, mobile apps or animations. The judges are looking for creativity and technical ingenuity.
Joe’s tutor, Colin Ralph, encouraged him to submit his animation, Little Vinnie Big Shell. Little Vinnie’s bar is being put out of business by a ladybird-run bar, Shirley’s Saloon. The outraged tortoise gangster plans a raid on the ladybird bar, only to burst into Shirley’s Salon, the hairdresser's next door…
Winners will be announced at a glamorous awards ceremony on 16th June.
