Music and new media management foundation degree students from The Manchester College teamed up with other young entrepreneurs from across Europe to promote student run businesses in our week long event called Cultchester. Groups from Germany, France, Turkey and Finland arrived in Manchester on Monday 17th May to learn about culture, music and new media.
Music managers from The Manchester College have set up an international record label, called Futurecho Records, which launched on Wednesday 19th May at The Bayhorse as part of the ‘Cultchester’ event. The launch showcased some of Manchester’s finest up and coming artists – US Warped Tour favorites Middle Finger Salute, joined by Naymedici, Disco Nasties, Xclsv plus Sarah Lou and Juntzu from Ireland.
On Thursday 20th May, Futurecho Records presented the Welcome to Cultchester music convention. We invited our European partners and members of the public to descend upon the stunning Manchester venue Band on the Wall. Futurecho Records curated an afternoon of music and business networking. Experts were on hand to offer advice across a variety of topics, such as creative business start up’s, demo reviews, and advice and Q&A session with industry managers. Guests and panelists included Chris Long (BBC Introducing), Kevin Moore (In the City), Bruce Thomas (Modern English) and Karen Boardman (Crisis Management) amongst others.
