Students at The Manchester College have enjoyed a Q&A session with The Ting Tings at The Centre for Music. One lucky student played guitar live with the band at their Manchester Sound Control gig. The Ting Tings are working with creative arts students as part of their first live tour in two years.
Josh Lipman, a second year student, played guitar with The Ting Tings at their Sound Control gig in Manchester. The Ting Tings wanted a student at The Manchester College to play at the gig and asked their tour manager to contact music tutor, Andy Woods. Josh played guitar solo on the new track Hit Me Down Sonny.
Josh is studying on the Foundation Degree in Popular Music and Production at The Manchester College. He is hoping to work as a session musician after he graduates. Josh’s advice to future students is: ‘Get involved with as many things as you can, inside and outside of college. Keep networking and focus on your passion.’

Students at the college have been making videos and designs for The Ting Tings in class. They have made remixes of the track Hang It Up to submit to the band. The band are keen to work with creative arts students and are running this creative campaign alongside their tour. Any work the band like will be featured on their website.
The band visited The Centre for Music to meet the students who had been working on the campaign. They took part in a question and answer session about the music business. This was particularly useful to students on the Music Industries Management and Popular Music and Production courses.
The campaign will be open for submissions on The Ting Tings’ website into January.
