Manchester SEAT has donated a brand new SEAT Altea car to The Manchester College. Automotive students will be able to work on the car at the college's state-of-the-art workshop on Openshaw Campus. The students will be able to develop the skills modern employers need thanks to the car's advanced on-board technology.
The car was donated for third year Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) students to work on. Student can use the car to develop skills like computer diagnostics, air conditioning servicing, ABS braking systems and multiplex wiring. These skills should give the students better work opportunities when they graduate.
I've been really impressed by the workshop set-up at The Manchester College
Manchester SEAT is part of the Hobin Group. Dave Hobin, managing director said: ‘I’ve been really impressed by the workshop set-up at The Manchester College. Our Manchester SEAT workshop on Bury New Road is not too far from the college and there’s a strong chance that some of the young people who have trained here may one day end up working for us. So it’s great to know that they will have had first hand experience of SEAT engineering and technology.’
The SEAT will enable our students to learn a whole new set of skills
Dave Spedding, lead manager for Construction and Automotive at The Manchester College said: ‘The addition of this SEAT Altea will be a massive boost to our IMI students. We’ve got all the very best diagnostic equipment and technology but that’s no good if you don’t have modern vehicles on which to use it. The SEAT features cutting edge computerised engine management systems and so will enable our students to learn a whole new set of skills.
‘We’d like to thank Manchester SEAT, Hobin Group and SEAT UK for this donation and we look forward to working with them and developing our relationship.’
