Students from The Manchester College visited Royal Manchester Children's Hospital to present them with toys which they had bought for the hospital with money raised at a fundraising event. Kevin Howe, Matthew Adam, Phillip Chatburn, Michael Foley and David Hooker along with their tutors, Ben Elson and Dorike Adesunloye, presented two Xboxes and six games to patients and Play Specialists on wards 79 and 75.
Students on the Extended Diploma in Media Production (Games Development) at Openshaw Campus came up with the idea of a 12 hour gaming marathon to raise money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The Children’s Hospital were in full support of the event and donated t-shirts, sponsorship forms and donation buckets.
The students did a fantastic job of raising money for a good cause. We knew the games consoles would bring hours of happiness to the children
Dorike Adessunloye, games design tutor said: ‘The students did a fantastic job of raising money for such a good cause. We decided it would be nicer to buy games consoles than present the hospital with money as we knew these would bring hours of happiness to the children. This is also an excellent of example of how The Manchester College provides an all -round education to our students – teaching them to be great citizens of the Manchester community!’
