Northenden students brew up for Francis House

Students at The Manchester College’s Northenden Campus have been holding regular coffee mornings in aid of Francis House, a local charity for children with life-limiting conditions.

The students, who study on the College’s Routes to Employment course, made cakes, served customers and looked after the money raised. Tutor Andrew Parkinson said: ‘They’re learning real work skills and also doing something good for charity. Francis House is a good local charity and we’ve had students who have come to the College from Francis House.’

Francis House provides a home from home for families whose children have life-limiting conditions. At the final coffee morning of term, the students presented Kate Puc, Fundraising Officer for Francis House, with a cheque for the money raised. Kate said: ‘I came in and talked to the students about Francis House and they were enthusiastic to help. It’s great to see local communities supporting Francis House, raising funds and awareness.’
