The Manchester College’s art and design students made their biggest impact yet at the annual Inspired By… competition this year with a record breaking number of winners.
Organised by Manchester Art Gallery and the V&A to celebrate Adult Learners’ Week, the Inspired By… competition judges competitors on artwork that has been inspired by other artists’ work displayed within Manchester Art Gallery.
Out of the 10 winners, four were art students from the Moston Campus – a new record for the college – and the group of 10 runners-up also included two further students from the Moston Campus.

Three of the winners had produced their creations whilst studying on the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design whilst James Dolan and the two runners-up had studied on the BTEC First Diploma in Working in the Creative Industries.
Their pieces will be on display within the Manchester Art Gallery from 14 May until 22 July.
Course tutor on the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design, Fiona Donald, said: ‘I am delighted by the achievement of all the winners and runners-up. The competition offers a great opportunity for the students and the college to engage with the industry, including employers, and to reinforce the link we’ve already forged with the art gallery.’
