Morph on display at the Manchester Art Gallery shop

Morph, an exhibition of The Manchester College’s first year Foundation Degree Jewellery and Applied Arts students work will be displayed at Manchester Art Gallery until 1 June.

The students’ brief was to design a collection of at least three pieces morphing handmade and manmade materials.

Ten students are exhibiting their work and the pieces will also be for sale.The gallery and shop are open Tues-Sun 10am-5pm.

'This is a wonderful opportunity for me to exhibit my work in a professional capacity and I look forward to many more in the future,' explained student, Stephanie Hamer.

Eve Redmond, course leader on the Foundation Degree Jewellery and Applied Arts course, said, 'We are extremely excited at the prospect of our students exhibiting their work in City Art Gallery, the work looks great and all the staff are very proud.’

The Foundation Degree in Jewellery and Applied Arts is aimed at individuals who are interested in designing and producing items, such as jewellery and accessories, in a number of modern and traditional materials. It is a practical workshop-based course with a strong design element. Work ranges in scale from small items of contemporary jewellery to large scale artwork.
