The Manchester College is working in partnership with Skillset – the sector skills council for creative and media – to offer a new entrant trainee scheme especially for junior employees working in post production and production industries.
The First Post scheme is designed by the media and creative industry and supported by North West Vision and Media and the Higher Level Skills Pathfinder. It is an accredited modular scheme which gives new talent entering the post production and production world a thorough grounding in technical operations, customer and commercial skills. The programme is designed to fast forward junior employees in their understanding of the industry and all post production operations.
With its practical approach, the innovative scheme provides training specific to the TV industry and prepares staff with immediately useful skills in the industry.
The training takes place over six months, with two day-long sessions every fortnight. It includes interactive learning, classroom lectures, visits to different facilities and presentations from industry experts. The course fosters swift development and encourages student interaction with employers at every level.
The course provides an extensive induction in health and safety, customer service and other technical skills.
Prices start from a £700 contribution per employee.
Contact the project manager Lance Tattersall, lancetattersall@btinternet.com for further information or visit the Skill Set website.
Deadline for applications is the 13 March 2009.
