The Manchester College hosts Pan Disability Football League

The Manchester College is fully committed to supporting students who have a disability and would like to get involved in sport. As part of this commitment the college hosted the 4th round of the British Colleges Sport North West Pan Disability Football League competition at the Nicholls Football Centre, Ardwick.

The day was a huge success, with seven colleges competing against each other for the coveted title. Competing students had been provided with weekly coaching sessions at the college and were heavily supported by students studying on the NVQ In Activity Leadership.

The students showed excellent planning skills and proved what they can do when they put their minds to something

Brian Goodwin, Community Football Coordinator at the college, said: ‘This was a superb event, the students showed excellent planning and organisation skills and proved what they can do when they put their minds to something. They showed great team working skills and ensured that the event ran smoothly and that all participants were excited and engaged.’

Stand out students on the day were Ian McGuinness, Leutrim Caka, Luke Anderson, Luke Webb and Hobie Felstead who all played key roles in making sure the event was a huge success.

The event was supported by Manchester City in the Community (CITC). The CITC Disability Co-ordinator, Daniel Landstrom, attended the event and provided valuable information about sporting opportunities.

Disability football sessions take place at the college’s Nicholls Campus every Tuesday from 10.15 – 11.30. If you want to get involved or would like further information please contact Brian Goodwin on 0161 920 4812 or email Brian.Goodwin@themanchestercollege.ac.uk
