Live projects and paid placements for Graphic Design and Advertising students

Students on the Foundation Degree in Graphic Design and Advertising at The Manchester College have had an exciting year working on live projects with the BBC, Mercedes and local company, Winning Pitch. Students were offered placements following these projects. Two students have been offered paid placements after graduation with London design agency, Purpose.

Graphic Design and Advertising students gain experience with real companies and produce commercial work as part of their course. This gives the students great opportunities to progress and a CV that stands out from the crowd.

Mercedes were spoilt for choice as to which campaign to use!

This year, students at The Manchester College worked with a local Mercedes dealer to raise the profile of their showroom and the popular SMART car. The students’ teamwork was tested to the max as they experienced the real pressures of managing in a commercial team. The project concluded with an on-site pitch to the Mercedes team, leaving Mercedes spoilt for choice as to which campaign to use!

As a result of the project, a student was offered a placement over the summer

Another project saw the students working in partnership with Winning Pitch (a business growth organisation). Students helped the client explore branding possibilities through the medium of graphic design. Winning Pitch worked closely with the students in briefing and on project meetings, inviting five successful students to give commercial pitches at their premises. The students practiced their excellent time management, communication and artwork skills at multiple client visits. As a result of the project, a student was invited to work at Winning Pitch over the summer.
