Deborah Forrest, who graduated with distinction from a Foundation Degree in Jewellery and Applied Arts this July at The Manchester College, was presented with an Award for Excellence in November at an international jewellery festival.
At the preview night of the Brilliantly Birmingham Jewellery Festival she was presented with the Award for Excellence. The judging panel included Professor Jack Cunningham, Head of the School of Jewellery at Birmingham University, with support and sponsorship coming from Weston Beamor, Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Assay Office.
Deborah said: ‘It was an unbelievably busy and eventful night, not least because I won a prestigious Brilliantly Birmingham Award for Excellence; quite a surprise! I had no idea that our work would be judged until I arrived at the event.’
Deborah has worked in a wide variety of materials including textiles and plastics, but her main area of practice is metalwork.
