Fifteen interactive media students from The Manchester College’s Northenden Campus will be broadcasting a live TV show online at the end of April. The half hour show Music Mania will be the culmination of a five week project designed to help students understand video technology.
Filmed at Lets Go Global Internet TV studios Music Mania will feature live performances by local musicians Rosea Niland and Rob Coleman. The show will also feature music videos for musicians from blueSCI Seed Studios created by the National Diploma Interactive Media students as a previous project. The broadcast is free for everyone to watch and to participate through on-line chat; visit www.ustream.tv/channel/music-mania1 at 2pm on 29th April 2010.
‘It's brilliant being able to do a live broadcast in a professional studio and amazing that The Manchester College has given us this opportunity, it has also been fantastic working with the musicians to produce the music videos,’ said Jazmine Hayes, student on the National Diploma Interactive Media course.
Isabel Brotherston, tutor for Interactive Media at The Manchester College, said: ‘This project came about through staff forging links with the media industry and has been running for three years. It has provided students with the opportunity to gain professional experience of live broadcasting and has been a fantastic opportunity to run live briefs with other organisations such as Lets Go Global TV and Blue Sci.’
