Gifted dancer seeks sponsorship for top stage school place

Natalie Maloney, studying BTEC in dance at The Manchester College, has won a prestigious place at the Hammond Stage School in Chester. Natalie competed against 3000 dancers to win one of only 40 slots. Her next challenge is to find sponsorship to help pay for her place.

Millie Gair, Natalie’s teacher at The Manchester College, says: “Natalie is a very focused individual and a delight to teach. I have total belief that if she were given the opportunity to continue studying she would undoubtedly forge out a fantastic career in dance.”

Natalie saves every penny she makes working at her local pub and running dance classes. She has managed to save over half the money she needs to pay for the scholarship, but is struggling to find the rest.

Natalie says: “The stage is an intoxicating mixture to me — the bright lights, open space and an audience to amaze, all of which I find exciting. I aspire to be deeply involved in the performing industry and be qualified and experienced enough to perform in the industry.” 18 year old Natalie, from Shaw, is a former gymnast and can dance jazz, contemporary ballet and tap. Alongside her studies at The Manchester College, she has toured with the street dance team Equinox and taken dance classes at London’s famous Pineapple Studios.

The Oldham Evening Chronicle has asked local businesses or individuals to offer Natalie the sponsorship she needs to fulfil her dreams. Potential sponsors can call Natalie’s mum, Joanne, on 01706 883 229 or 07716 837 006.
