How to get there
By bus
National Express run services to the nearby Wakefield Bus Station.
By train
The nearest main station is Wakefield Westgate; the prison is approximately five minutes' walk away.
By car
From the M1 South – proceed north along the M1 to Junction 40. After approximately 2 miles, turn left opposite Derwent Mercedes Garage, into Parliament Street, just before a railway bridge. The prison is then facing you.
From the M62 – proceed along the M62 east or west to the junction with the M1. Take the M1 south to Junction 40. Leave at Junction 40 along the A638 towards Wakefield. After approximately 2 miles, turn left opposite Derwent Mercedes Garage, into Parliament Street, just before a railway bridge. The prison is then facing you.
From the A1 North – proceed along the A1 south to the M62. Proceed along the M62 westbound to the M1. Proceed along the M1 southbound to Junction 40. Leave at Junction 40 along the A638 towards Wakefield. After approximately 2 miles, turn left opposite Derwent Mercedes Garage, into Parliament Street, just before a railway bridge. The prison is then facing you.
From the A1 South – proceed along the A1 and A1M and leave the A1M to join the A638 towards Wakefield. Follow the signs to Dewsbury A638. After crossing a roundabout at Comet, get into the right hand lane and turn right at the end, across the dual carriageway (Westgate). After approx 100 yards, turn left opposite Derwent Mercedes Garage, into Parliament Street, just before railway bridge. The prison is then facing you.
