How to get there
HMP Lancaster Castle is situated in the town of Lancaster.
By car
From the South: Exit the M6 at Junction 33. At the roundabout, turn right onto the A6. Follow the A6 to Lancaster town centre (one way system). Once you reach the one way system, get in the left hand lane. There are two sets of traffic lights 10 yards apart, go straight through these until the next set of traffic lights, then turn left at Waterstones Book Shop. After approximately 50 yards take the first on the right and the Castle is directly in front of you on the hill.
From the North: Exit the M6 at Junction 34 and follow signs to Lancaster Town Centre (one way system). Passing through various sets of traffic lights, a statue of Queen Victoria and the Town Hall will appear on the left. At this point get into the right hand lane and turn right at the next traffic lights. Once through these lights get into the left hand lane. You will go through 2 sets of traffic lights 10 yards apart. At the next set of lights turn left (Waterstones book shop). After approximately 50 yards take the first on the right and the Castle is directly in front of you on the hill.

There is limited meter parking in the area around the prison.
