What are the aims of this course?

If you are interested in digital technology and multimedia, this course is for you. You will be set challenging briefs where you will be encouraged to creatively explore the potential of up-to-the-minute technology and software such as, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Stop Motion Pro. You will develop technical skills and practical experience in researching, planning, designing and developing a range of work.

What qualifications do I need to do this course?

Five GCSEs at grade C or four at grade B, including Maths and English.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through project work completed throughout the year. Your final assessment will include a portfolio presentation, an exhibition of work produced and an externally assessed major project.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

On successful completion of year 1 you will gain a BTEC National Award and on completion of year 2 you will gain a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma. This is equivalent to two A Levels and a maximum of 220 UCAS points. You will also have the opportunity to complete the Key Skills Certificate.

What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?

You can apply to study HND, foundation degree or degree programmes. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.

What are the career opportunities?

This qualification can be used to gain employment in the vast field of digital creativity and communications, including graphic design and web design. Specialist careers advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.
