This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the IT support industry and integrates both academic (BTEC) and professional (Cisco) qualifications.

- Networking basics (Cisco CCNA 1)

Year two units - BTEC National Certificate:
- Information systems
- Organisational systems security
- IT technical support
- Network management
- Network systems security
- Routers and routing basics (Cisco CCNA 2)
BTEC National Diploma additional units:
- Advanced database skills
- Client side customisation of web pages
- Impact of the use of IT on business systems
- Digital graphics and computers
- e-commerce
- Installing and upgrading software
What qualifications do I need to do this course?
Five GCSEs at grade C or four at grade B, including Maths and English.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed by a range of methods including projects, assignments, coursework and written tests. An externally marked vocational assignment is also required.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?
On successful completion of year 1 you will gain a BTEC National Award and on completion of year 2 you will gain a BTEC National Certificate. The BTEC National Diploma, if selected, is completed across both years and has six top-up units to make the course worth three A Levels. You will also have the opportunity to complete the Key Skills Certificate.
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?
This qualification is acceptable for entry to HND and degree courses. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.
