What's the Media and Creative Business course about?

This course is a BSc top-up degree designed to introduce individuals to business in the media, digital and creative industries. It develops business and entrepreneurial skills and provides the knowledge needed to make the leap from creative student to creative practitioner. It is aimed at anyone who wants to start their own creative business or apply for managerial positions in organisations with a creative focus. The content of this course is aimed at improving employability and developing business and management skills. Students are able to study a particular area of interest within the media, digital, or creative industries whilst developing skills in researching, problem solving and communication.
Subjects covered include: - Business and management skills - Innovation and ideas generation - E-marketing for product promotion - Finance for non-finance managers - People and project management
Students will be assessed on essays, practical assignments, examinations, presentations, case studies, programme proposals, portfolios, a reflective journal, interview transcriptions and broadcast projects.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

The clearest progression route for further study is the MSc Media and Creative Management, offered by the University of Bolton. Successful students will be equipped to set up their own business, become self-employed or apply for managerial jobs in the creative industries.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Applicants are required to have a foundation degree or HNC/HND in a relevant creative subject. Applicants will also require a suitable portfolio or the ability to demonstrate creativity/problem solving.
