What's the Interactive Media course about?

The HND consists of 16 units which have been selected to build on an art and design base of creative thinking and problem solving. The course allows students to apply these skills in designing and producing professional quality interactive media within the disciplines of video production, CD-ROM production, website development, digital image manipulation and animation.The course has a strong emphasis on conceptual ideas, design, and theoretical contexts involved in interactive media.
Subjects covered include: - Computer applications in art and design - Computing fundamentals - Interactive media design and authoring - Historical and contextual referencing - Cultural interpretation of design - Animation techniques - 3D computer modelling - Computer interface design - Sound production and editing - Electronic communication applications - Audio visual techniques - Marketing development - Digital and video post production and editing - Image manipulation applications
The course is assessed through project work across a range of units throughout the course. Final assessment will include a portfolio presentation and demonstration of work produced.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

The programme has been structured to meet the growing demand by employers for knowledge and skills in digital creativity and multimedia authoring in many different fields, such as education, entertainment, training, leisure and communication. On completion of the course students will have the opportunity to progress on to a related degree.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Applicants should possess an A Level, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or an equivalent level 3 qualification with art or design content. Qualifications should be accompanied by a portfolio of creative work. Minimum UCAS tariff points required: 100. Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity may also apply.
