What's the Enterprise Computing course about?
This course has been designed to provide individuals with knowledge and understanding of a broad range of subjects, methods and products relevant to the computer industry. It serves as a foundation or platform for further study and also provides an aid to career advancement. It has been designed with employer involvement, which makes it highly relevant to the needs of industry.
Students develop an understanding of how computing relates to different aspects of an enterprise, preparing them for changes in technology. They use industry-standard products such as Oracle for databases and Cisco for networking.
Students develop practical skills in software design, implementation and testing, and in the use of databases and appropriate programming languages. During the second stage of the course there is a greater emphasis on the development of practical skills leading to employment, which is reflected in the assessment strategy.

A variety of assessment methods are used, including coursework assignments and in-class tests. Assessment on the programme makes use of a range of activities, including reports, oral presentations, group work, practical assignments, MCQ tests, time-constrained tests and peer assessment. Several end-of-year examinations and a number of assignments must also be undertaken.
What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?
Graduates may progress into numerous careers, including junior IT office mangers, junior software developers, network administration assistants and end user support analysts. Upon completion of this course students may wish to complete a three-month bridging unit, which will enable progression to the final year of an honours degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?
Applicants are required to have a BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in an IT-related subject area, or an equivalent level 3 qualification with appropriate content. Minimum UCAS tariff points required: 80.
Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity may also apply.
