What's the 3D Character Animation course about?

This course, validated by the University of Bolton, provides an educational foundation for a range of careers in the 3D and animation industries. It has been developed in response to the growth of digital technology in industries such as animation, advertising, video production, post production and stop-motion animation. Students use state-of-the-art facilities and the latest industry software to develop 3D and character animation skills.
Subjects covered include: - Idea development - Digital graphics - 3D modelling - 3D compositing - 3D rendering - 3D characterisation - Business skills - Copyright and digital asset management
The course will be assessed through assignments and project work across a range of units throughout the course. The final assessment will include a portfolio presentation and critique of work produced.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

This course can lead to employment in industries such as animation, advertising, video production, post production and stop-motion animation. It can also allow progression onto the second or third year of a degree at the University of Bolton.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Applicants should possess an A Level, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or an equivalent level 3 qualification with art/design content. A good standard of literacy is required and qualifications should be accompanied by a portfolio of creative work. Minimum UCAS tariff points required: 120. Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity may also apply.
