What's the Management Studies course about?

The PDMS is designed to allow managers to develop across a range of areas relevant to their present and future roles in their organisation and to prepare them to perform confidently and effectively as a member of a management team. The programme is designed to meet national standards for management in the UK and is internationally recognised.

On joining the PDMS, each manager is allocated a personal tutor. Contact with the tutor is ongoing throughout the course and may be by telephone, email, fax, face to face contact or our virtual learning environment.

The programme structure includes the study of the following competencies:
- Personal development
- Managing projects
- Communications at work
- Introducing strategy
- Managing a budget
- Managing change
- Financial awareness
- Leadership
- Decision making and taking
- Winning teams

Assessment is via a combination of work based reports, short answer tests, personal development plans, written case study analysis, a business project and a personal development plan.

This programme is designed to enhance the career development of management professionals by equipping them with a high level strategic qualification that is increasingly sought after by employers.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

The PDMS programme has proved to be particularly effective in organisations undergoing significant cultural change, experiencing rapid growth, with a young or relatively inexperienced management team, or where individuals are promoted from technical roles into management roles.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Management Studies course?

Successful managers will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Management Studies (PDMS) by Edexcel.
