What are the aims of this course?
This Apprenticeship helps 16+ year olds start a career in the NHS whilst continuing to study an academic/vocational qualification. The programme is run in partnership with the Skills Academy for Health, The Pennine Acute Trust and The Manchester College. The course is studied for three days in college and two days on placement at North Manchester General Hospital.

What qualifications do I need to do this course?
Competition for places with employers can be fierce, so applicants will need to show that they are committed, happy to work as part of a team and individually, and able to use their own initiative. Applicants will also need five GCSEs at any grade.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is through assignments, observation, portfolio, reflective tasks and exam.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?
At the end of the programme apprentices will have achieved the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care and BTEC Level 2 Level QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to complete Functional Skills that will help develop important skills - like communication, team working, presentation, and problem solving.
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?
Cadets can go on to study on a Nursing Diploma or progress onto level 3 courses.
What are the career opportunities?
There are opportunities for employment after the course at the hospital if vacancies are available. Alternatively, employment can be found in the private sector as the QCF Diploma is a sought-after qualification.
