What's the Vehicle Accident Repair - MET Competence course about?
This motor industry qualification covers activities that relate to body repairers working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops. Successful candidates will demonstrate a broad working knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage. The qualification includes the following areas: removing and replacing body panels; repairing body panels; and rectifying vehicle misalignment.
The course covers the following mandatory units:
- Removing and reinstating vehicle mechanical and electrical systems and assemblies following accidental damage
- Removing and reinstating vehicle trim fitments following accident damage
- Contributing to workplace good housekeeping
- Maintaining positive working relationships
- Reducing risks to health and safety
- Inspecting vehicles
You will demonstrate your skills and knowledge by collecting evidence of your work. This evidence is usually presented in a portfolio. You will also undertake IMI set online multiple-choice tests.
What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?
This course could lead to supervisory or management positions within the motor industry.
What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?
You need to be working as a body repairer in the motor industry, and a level 2 IMI qualification would be desirable.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Vehicle Accident Repair - MET Competence course?
You will be awarded the IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair - Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET) Competence.
