This CITB approved course is designed to give you a working knowledge of methods of erecting and dismantling complex and designed scaffolds. You will learn the construction and statutory regulations relevant to the scaffolds you will be erecting and dismantling.
Course content:
- Erecting and dismantling
- A builder's hoist
- A heavy independent scaffold without bridging
- A stack scaffold
- System scaffolds
- A gantry
- A truss out scaffold
- A protective fan
- Fixing netting to hoist towers and various types of sheeting to scaffolds
The course will be delivered by informal lectures and practical sessions. You will build up a portfolio of work and you will be assessed by a written exam and practical assessments.
On completion, you will be able to work in the construction industry as a trained scaffolder and you will have the practical skills needed to undergo a one-day NVQ level 2 practical assessment. When you have gained the NVQ level 2 qualification, you can apply for the Basic Record Card. Six months after completing the Basic Scaffolding Part Two course, you may progress onto the CITB Advanced Scaffolding course.
You must have successfully completed the Basic Scaffolding Part 1 course and have had at least six months subsequent site experience within the scaffolding industry. You must be employed in a related role whilst you study this course.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a CITB training certificate.
As the definition of full time and part time can vary from course to course, please check with the tutor as to the exact number of hours study each week this course will entail.
