What's the PCV Re-registration for Driving Instructors course about?

This five day PCV driving instructor refresher course is for experienced instructors who hold the Driving Instructors' S/NVQ and are already on the register of approved PCV driving instructors held by GoSkills. It enables qualified instructors to stay up-to-date with new legislation and instructional techniques.

The course is designed to ensure the standard of instructors' performance still meets the requirements of GoSkills. The course offers trainers an opportunity to sharpen their skills, reassess their training styles and help them to examine their own techniques, standards and attitudes.

You will cover the following areas on the course:
- Health and Safety at work
- Personal driving
- In-class teaching
- In-class training
- Review of instructional techniques
- New transport legislation

You will be assessed on the following:
- Personal drive
- Static lesson presentation at the vehicle
- Mobile lesson presentation and on road driving instruction
- In class teaching
- Theory test papers

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

The Manchester College offers a range of transport related short courses, in addition to qualifications accredited by industry recognised awarding bodies. Please enquire for details.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

You will need to provide evidence of AMD registration and a clean PCV licence and you will need to be employed in the industry.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the PCV Re-registration for Driving Instructors course?

You will receive a certificate of training from The Manchester College. You can then apply to GoSkills to remain on the register of approved PCV instructors.
