This course is aimed at mature students and is designed to develop students' knowledge and understanding of maths to provide progression towards employment or further study. It will enable students to develop their mental methods, written methods and calculator methods. The course is delivered using a variety of methods, including classroom teaching, supported study and group work.
Students will study a variety of subjects including:
- Algebra
- Problem solving
- Equations
- Sequences, functions and graphs
- Shape, space and measures
- Geometrical reasoning
- Transformations and coordinates
You will be assessed via coursework and an examination.
Successful students may wish to join an Access to HE Diploma.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you will need to demonstrate to the course tutor that you have the commitment and skills necessary to successfully complete the course. You will also need a reasonable level of reading and writing skills.
You may be asked to go through the Initial Assessment process designed to help us place you on the correct course and identify any possible support needs that you might have.
You will be awarded a GCSE in Maths by Edexcel.
