Managing the performance of others can be one of the most difficult and frustrating aspects of a team leader's or manager's role, but is also the most rewarding. Whilst the annual appraisal may form the foundation for a performance management system in reviewing past performance and setting new objectives, it needs to be firmly embedded in a year-round process of support, monitoring and feedback.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the line manager's role in managing performance
- Set clear objectives and standards
- Monitor and review performance
- Provide feedback and coaching
- Use targets to develop performance
- Deal with issues of under-performance
A hands-on approach is taken during this course. The exercises are designed to impart relevant skills and knowledge by having participants work through real-life examples and scenarios.
We offer a range of management courses from ILM awards and certificates to foundation degrees and the Professional Diploma in Management Studies. We also have an extensive range of short courses for managers and professionals to complement this course.
