According to Charles Handy, a large proportion of any manager's time is spent on trying to resolve different forms of conflict. There can be conflict between teams; between individuals; between team members and their customers or suppliers; between individuals or teams and the organisation. The managers' first responsibility is to create a workplace where conflict is unlikely to arise and disagreements are resolved before they turn into conflict, but they must also be able to deal with conflict should it arise.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify potential causes of conflict
- Recognise potential or actual bullying and/or harassment
- Recognise stages in the development of conflict
- Use a range of techniques to resolve or minimise conflict
- Understand how to create a positive, harmonious working culture
