The level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership is linked to professional body requirements and the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership and is directly work related. There is a strong emphasis on the development of practical skills and the acquisition of specific knowledge and understanding. It also focuses on the abilities, behaviours and attitudes that are required for a manager in the 21st century.
The course is designed to allow managers to develop across a range of areas relevant to their present and future roles in their organisation and to prepare them to perform confidently and effectively as a member of a management team. The course is internationally recognised.
The programme is delivered by flexible learning, consisting of
- Four skills development workshops, focusing on the application of learning (workshops are delivered in locations throughout the UK)
- A comprehensive pack of learning materials, including MOL's Management Series workbooks
- Practitioner tutor/facilitator support via email, telephone, face to face and through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
- Peer support through networking with fellow learners to share experience and expertise within a learning community
On joining the level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, each manager is allocated a personal tutor. Contact with the tutor is ongoing throughout the course and may be by telephone, email, fax, face to face and Skype or our virtual learning environment (VLE).

- Managing projects

All assessment is via a combination of work-based reports, personal development plans, written case study analysis, a business project and a personal development plan. Students are encouraged to be totally flexible in how they show competence in the assessment criteria for each unit. Evidence from work is directly encouraged.
This programme is designed to enhance the career development of management professionals by equipping them with a high level strategic qualification that is increasingly sought after by employers.
The PDMS programme has proved to be particularly effective in organisations undergoing significant cultural change, experiencing rapid growth, with a young or relatively inexperienced management team, or where individuals are promoted from technical roles into management roles.
Successful managers will be awarded a level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership (QCF) that is accredited by Edexcel BTEC.
