The Certificate in Welding Skills covers all of the basic knowledge and techniques that you need if you want to develop a career as a welder, or if you already work in engineering and need to increase your welding skills.
The following areas are covered:
- Beads on plate in the flat position
- Lap fillet weld in the horizontal/vertical position
- Tee fillet weld in the flat position
- Tee fillet weld in the horizontal/vertical position
- Open corner weld in the flat position
The assessment includes five mandatory practical tests and an oral test which covers the knowledge requirements for each programme of study. The oral test will be carried out by the assessor following the successful completion of the practical tests.
You will be able to go on to do City & Guilds qualifications at level 2 and 3 in the 3268 Scheme.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
You will be awarded a City & Guilds Certificate in Introductory Welding Skills - Manual Metal Arc Welding (CGLI 3268 Scheme).
As the definition of full time and part time can vary from course to course, please check with the tutor as to the exact number of hours study each week this course will entail.
