This course is suitable for anyone looking to develop their project management skills and gain a qualification in project management. It is designed to help people already managing projects, people who are thinking of moving into a project management position or anyone within an organisation who is involved with the running of projects. It would also be useful to people undertaking projects outside the workplace, such as property development, planning large social functions or fund raising for charitable events.
The course covers the following topics:
- The project management organisational structure
- The project business case
- Risk management
- Planning and scheduling
- Quality management
- Change control
- People management
- Conflict resolution
- Decision making
- Effective communication
- Cost estimating
Assessment will be through an end of course written report. The report based assessment relies heavily on your experience of working on projects, though not necessarily in a project management position. Students who currently have not been involved with project work need to discuss with the course tutor how they will gain the relevant experience.
This course will provide you with a starting point for vocationally relevant routes in project management and provide a progression route to higher level project management qualifications, such as PRINCE2.
You should be at least 18 and have a level 2 qualification. If you are over the age of 23, with experience in the workplace deemed appropriate by the course tutor, you may be admitted without formal qualifications.
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded Certificate in Project Management Level 3 from the EDI awarding body.
As the definition of full time and part time can vary from course to course, please check with the tutor as to the exact number of hours study each week this course will entail.
