What's the Introduction to Keyboard Skills course about?

Touch keyboarding is the most efficient way to enter data into a computer. You will learn everything from the importance of your seating position, the use of the home keys and everything you'll need to type without looking at your fingers. This course is also aimed at getting you to an accurate touch typing speed of 15 words per minute.

You will study the following:
- Basic typing position, key stroking, spacing and return
- The home row letter keys and the basic service keys by touch
- Locating and typing the letters e, h, and o keys and learn a new technique: type reach
- Locating and typing the letters t, i, and shift keys
- Locating and typing the letters n, w, and period
- Locating and typing the letters r, c, and right shift
- Locating and typing the letters u, x, and p
- Key stroking technique and typing with continuity
- Increasing speed during typing

Please note, this course will run subject to demand.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

This course is the starting point for your keyboard skills development. You can progress to a keyboard speed building course and then on to the OCR Text Processing Diploma or an IT course if you wish to increase your employability prospects.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

No previous qualifications are required just an enthusiasm to complete the course.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Introduction to Keyboard Skills course?

This course does not lead to a formal qualification but candidates that complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
