What's the Heavy Vehicle Diesel Engine Management and SCR Systems course about?

The aim of the course is to train candidates on modern diesel engine management and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems used in modern heavy vehicles and buses and coaches.

The course is made up of the following topics:
- Overview of engine operations which includes volumetric efficiency, phases of combustion, explanation of euro regulations, reduced pollution certificates and the need to fit high pressure common rail fuel systems
- Overview of the engine management system which includes system components, system sensors and component locations
- Pumping units and injector operations
- Fuel and electrical operations
- Diagnosis and rectification of engine management systems
- Overview of SCR system diagnosis and rectification of SCR systems
- Health and safety precautions regarding the safe handling and use of AdBlue

The course is assessed via an online test.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

On successful completion of this course you can go onto study our Canbus and Multiplexing Systems or Advanced Braking Systems short courses.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

You should be working in the heavy vehicle or bus and coach industry.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Heavy Vehicle Diesel Engine Management and SCR Systems course?

You will be awarded a college certificate, the course is accredited by the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) so will be recognised as a CPD course.
