The aim of this course is to enable individuals to gain recognition for their existing hospitality skills and to create opportunities for self-development. This is a work-based course which focuses on achieving occupational competency in the area of food and beverage service.
Areas covered by the course include:
- Hygiene, health and safety
- Teamwork
- Customer care
- Serving food and drink including wine
- Service styles and techniques
The course will be delivered through a combination of practical and theory sessions and you will complete a course portfolio for assessment. You will be assessed in your workplace.
On successful completion of the course you could progress onto a level 3 course in hospitality supervision or a similar qualification. The course could also lead to career progression in the food and drink service sector; in restaurants, hotels, conferences and banqueting.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but applicants must be working in the food service side of the hospitality industry.
You will be awarded a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food and Beverage Service by City & Guilds. There will also be the opportunity to gain the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
