What's the Driver CPC - Safe Securing of Wheelchairs course about?

The aim of this JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) approved course is to train PCV drivers in the safe security of wheelchairs and operation of wheelchairs lifts. This is a CPC accredited course and can be used towards drivers' CPC, and drivers' attendance will be registered with the DSA towards their 35 hours periodic training requirement.

The following areas are covered on the course:
- LOLER 98 regulations
- Accident Statistics
- Major problem factors
- Duty of Care under the HASAW Act 1974
- Use of wheelchair clamps
- Safe securing of wheelchairs
- Electric wheelchairs
- Practical use of side lift and ramp system
- Practical safe securing of wheelchairs

You will be assessed through observation.

We offer a wide range of short courses for bus, coach and LGV drivers, including other CPC courses.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

This course is aimed at bus, coach and minibus drivers.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Driver CPC - Safe Securing of Wheelchairs course?
