What's the Driver CPC - Disability Awareness course about?

The aim of this JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) approved course is to improve the performance of those in direct contact with customers. This is a CPC accredited course and can be used towards drivers' CPC, and drivers' attendance will be registered with the DSA towards their 35 hours periodic training requirement. Participants will work in small groups to share their own ideas about disability awareness.

The course covers the following:
- Drivers' ideas on what they think disabilities are
- The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
- Unlawful discrimination and how to avoid prosecution
- Making public transport vehicles accessible
- Removing barriers to discrimination
- Models of disability
- Disabled people's attitudes and priorities when it comes to public transport
- Giving assistance

You will be assessed through observation.

We offer a wide range of short courses for bus, coach and LGV drivers, including other CPC courses.
