What's the Driver CPC - Defensive Driving course about?

The aim of this JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) approved course is to train PCV and LGV drivers in the techniques of defensive driving. This is a CPC accredited course and can be used towards drivers' CPC, and drivers' attendance will be registered with the DSA towards their 35 hours periodic training requirement. Participants will work in small groups to share their own ideas about aspects of defensive driving.

You will cover the following areas on the course:
- The qualities of the professional driver
- Using effective observations
- The Highway Code
- Forward planning and observation
- Choosing the correct speed
- Driving economically
- Daily vehicle check
- The effects of stress, drinking and driving

You will be assessed through observation.

We offer a wide range of short courses for bus, coach and LGV drivers, including other CPC courses.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Driver CPC - Defensive Driving course?
