What's the Construction Materials Distribution course about?

The City and Guilds Construction Materials Distribution Foundation Certificate has been designed to meet the needs of all those concerned with supplying materials to the building, plumbing and electrical industries. Each of the modules is self-contained and addresses a particular range of construction materials, its manufacture, storage, distribution and application.

The areas covered by the course are:
- Heavy side materials
- Light side materials
- Commercial practice

Students will study via `open learning', which means that they can undertake their learning in private and within reason, at their own pace. The module will direct the student towards the information and experiences from which they will learn. The tutor will read and assess all work and will provide a response to everything written.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

The CGLI Construction Materials Distribution Foundation Certificate will enhance the product knowledge of a person who is employed or considering employment within the construction materials supply industry. On satisfactory completion of the course, students could go on to do the CGLI Construction Material Distribution Certificate course.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

No formal qualifications are required, although students will need to demonstrate that they have the commitment and skills necessary to complete the course.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Construction Materials Distribution course?

CGLI will accredit each module, upon satisfactory completion. When the appropriate modules have been completed, the accreditations may be converted to a CGLI Construction Materials Distribution Certificate.
