The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction is designed to equip individuals with the practical skills, knowledge and understanding required for employment in technical and professional disciplines within the construction/built environment industry. The qualification also enables progression to a BTEC Higher National Certificate or undergraduate degree qualifications.
Year 1 units:
- Health, safety and welfare
- Construction science and materials
- Analytical methods
- Planning, organisation and control of resources
- Graphical detailing
- Surveying processes
Year 2 units:
- Construction and the environment
- Construction technology and design
- Building technology
- Environmental science
- Building surveying
- Building regulations and control
- Planning procedures (optional)
- Measuring, tendering and estimating procedure (optional)
All assessments for BTEC are criterion referenced (continuous assessment related to performance criteria laid down in the individual units). All units are individually graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Four sampling units are internally and externally assessed.
When you have successfully completed this course there are numerous opportunities for further study including HNC/HNDs, foundation degrees and honours degrees in building/construction studies. This course can also lead to a wide range of senior technician posts in architecture, building surveying, quantity surveying and construction management.
Applicants will need one of the following:
- A BTEC Level 2 qualification in construction or a related vocational area
- An Intermediate GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
- GCSEs equivalent to four passes at grade C
Mature candidates with at least two years' experience in an appropriate vocational area will also be considered.
You will be awarded the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and Built Environment.
