The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction is designed to equip individuals with practical skills, knowledge and understanding required for success in current employment in technical and professional disciplines within the construction industry. Those individuals may already possess construction craft knowledge but wish to transfer and build upon those skills, working towards becoming a member of the construction professions. The qualification also enables progression to BTEC Higher National Certificates or undergraduate degree qualifications and professional occupations in the built environment.
You will cover the following modules:
- Health, safety and welfare
- Construction and the environment
- Construction technology and design
- Construction science and materials
- Planning, organisation and control of resources
- Measuring, tendering and estimating procedures
- Surveying processes
- Building technology
The course will be delivered through a combination of lectures, workshops, laboratory-based practicals and tutorials. Your work will be assessed continuously throughout the course.
Once you have completed the Subsidiary Diploma it can lead on to numerous opportunities for further study including, HNCs, foundation degree and honours degree courses. This course can lead to career opportunities in construction management, architecture, building surveying and quantity surveying and a variety of allied jobs within the built environment field.
You will need to be employed in the construction industry to do this course. You will need a City & Guilds Ordinary or Advanced Craft in a related vocational area. Mature candidates with at least two years' experience in an appropriate area will also be able to gain entry onto this course.
You will be awarded the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction.
