What's the Clothing Pattern Cutting course about?

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to construct basic patterns for use in the clothing industry or for personal use. You will also have the opportunity to visit places of relevant interest; in the past students have visited exhibitions and fashion shows, local textile businesses and Paris and New York.

The course covers the following areas:
- Taking measurements and constructing basic blocks
- Producing pattern adaptations
- Relating fabrics to style and planning lays
- Producing complete patterns

You will produce a number of practical course work assignments and a portfolio of evidence for assessment.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

When you have successfully completed this course there are numerous opportunities for further study, including Level 3 Pattern Construction and fashion design courses. This course can also lead to employment opportunities in relevant commercial areas.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

No formal qualifications required, although you will need to demonstrate that you have the enthusiasm and commitment necessary to complete the course.
