What's the Chairing a Meeting course about?

This course is aimed at secretarial/administrative staff at all levels who need practical training in chairing a meeting. The course is delivered through group discussion, demonstration and practical activities. The course activities are designed to impart skills and knowledge by having participants work through real life examples and scenarios.

Areas covered by the course include:
- The role of the chairperson and the purpose of the role
- Barriers to effective meetings
- Using the Agenda to achieve the meeting aim
- Keeping on track
- Impartiality
- Agreeing the final minutes

There is no formal assessment on this course.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

When you have completed this course there are a number of opportunities for further study, including Business Administration NVQ Level 2.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

This course has been developed for those that are new to their role with little experience of chairing meetings, or those who want an opportunity to reassess their role as the chairperson.
