What's the Bench Joinery course about?

This course is designed for people who are currently employed within the bench joinery area of the construction industry. It is a broad based course covering the basic knowledge and skills relating to bench joinery.

This course is designed to be part of a package of training for people employed in a bench joinery role.

Mandatory units:
- Conforming to general safety
- Conforming to efficient working practices
- Moving and handling resources
- Manufacturing routine bench joinery products

Optional units:
- Setting up and using circular saws
- Producing setting out details for routine bench joinery products
- Marking out from setting out details for routine bench joinery products

Students will be assessed by short practical and related knowledge tests for each unit of the course and will be required to submit evidence from the workplace for assessment.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

Students can go on to study bench joinery at level 3.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

This course is a work-oriented qualification and is suitable for those who are employed in a related role; a minimum of three years' relevant experience is required.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the Bench Joinery course?

You will be awarded an NVQ Diploma at Level 2 in Bench Joinery.
